A wonderfully written piece Ethan, I think a lot of people (myself included) don't understand the complexity that comes with acting. It's a misconception that every actor becomes a gazillionaire if they've been on TV and they live a high life through rose tinted glasses every day. I love how much this piece humanised you even more & scratches the surface on what I can only guess is an often callous and hard wearing industry. Keep going Ethan!

There’s probably a few articles in just how divorced the fantasy of acting is from the reality. Something to think about.

Good read, sad but hopeful read. Boat Story was excellent and you were terrific in it. That alone should lead to bigger and better opportunities. Good luck, looking forward to where the future takes you!

That was always the hope with Boat Story. I just hope it doesn’t get memory holed by the time scripted Telly is back up and running again!

Mate, that reads so well. Like you I’m a larger guy and like you I struggled through the cattle markets of auditions. I had a bit of luck but even then nothing came of it. However unlike you, I’m a coward, I’m not brave enough, or daring enough to take a chance and trust myself. Or believe in myself enough. I refuse to ask for help from people I knew in the industry. Eventually I gave up my dream and went back into nursing. A good careeer and a dependable one of the most part. You however have talent, acting chops and courage. You will have another ride on this merry go round. Wish you all the best!

Cheers Simon. Honestly I think you may well have had the right idea! There’s nothing cowardly about putting your responsibility to yourself, your dependants and, in your case, the people you care for, first. That’s just a different and less stupid form of courage.
